Ravenpass: an open-source password manager in Go, built with Wails v3

Hi Gophers,

I’d like to share Ravenpass, an open-source, GPL-3.0-licensed password manager for macOS and Android, with a Chrome extension. Nearly all of it is Go.

I started it because I wanted a password manager with no account and no server: the vault is a single encrypted file, and you decide where it lives. Keep it on your device, or put it in a cloud drive folder to open the same vault on your computer and phone.

How it’s built

  • Portable vault core: packages/vault is plain Go with no platform code. Each record is sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305 from x/crypto, keys are derived with the standard library’s crypto/hkdf, and the PIN is stretched with Argon2id.
  • One codebase, two platforms: both apps run on Wails v3 (beta) and share the same Go services and React UI.
  • Thin platform adapters: Secure Enclave or Android Keystore for unlocking, and the system’s own autofill for passwords, passkeys and two-factor codes.
  • Importers: export formats from other password managers are read by separate Go packages.

Try it

On macOS (Apple silicon):

brew tap dortanes/ravenpass https://github.com/dortanes/ravenpass
brew install --cask dortanes/ravenpass/ravenpass

The Android APK is on the Releases page. To build from source, you need Go 1.27 and Node.js 24:

git clone https://github.com/dortanes/ravenpass.git
cd ravenpass
make deps
make desktop

I’d love to hear your feedback. If you’ve shipped Wails v3 on Android, I’m curious how it went for you.
