We’re hiring 2 embedded Linux / OpenWRT engineers to work on the firmware for a networking platform. Fully remote.

Location / timezone: GMT to GMT+4 only (UTC+0 to UTC+4) — Dubai/Gulf, Middle East, Europe, UK, Africa. Dubai preferred. We’re not able to consider US/Americas-based candidates for this role.
Salary: Starting at $6,000+/month, paid monthly.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain OpenWRT firmware (packages, kernel config, system integration)
- Own the router-image build pipeline, including per-SKU hardware variants
- Write device-side agents in Go (metrics, config reconciliation, secure mTLS comms)
- Design on-router services: VPN/cellular bonding, modem state, OTA updates
- Integrate cellular modems via AT commands (signal metrics, bearer setup, diagnostics)
- Debug the hard stuff: modem firmware, wireless drivers, ppp/qmi/mbim, netlink
- Own kernel bumps and driver patches; contribute upstream
What we’re looking for
- Strong embedded Linux: OpenWRT (procd), netlink, nftables
- Solid Go for device daemons, or strong C
- Confident shell scripting (BusyBox ash)
- Cellular modems: AT commands, qmi/mbim, LTE/5G metrics
- Networking depth: routing, VPN, NAT, DNS
- Systems and architecture thinking; owns an outcome end to end (the technical round is an architecture discussion, not a leetcode grind)
Bonus: upstream OpenWRT/LEDE, Wi-Fi/modem middleware, kernel work, or Rust
