So, out of curiosity to try the latest version on Debian, I decided to try build it (1.24), not knowing I first had to have 1.20
Anyways, got to build 1.20 through 1.19, but after cmd/vet it fails with the next two lines:
FAIL
go tool dist: Failed: exit status 1
I will be honest, I didnāt bother to check more than a few things to try (Mostly proof-checked links Perplexity AI gave me), and idk if there is more fixes than just trying to set GOROOT properly (Which I also tried and still same issue, I donāt know how related it might be). If the answer is obvious, please just pretend Iām dumb lol.
Does anyone know? Iām probably paranoid thinking that itās getting ignored for having used AI to try and fix it. But since it wasnāt very useful I actually need someone to reply (Again, Iām most probably just paranoid)
Itās hard to say whatās going wrong with that little to go off in the error message. Did you try go tool dist clean? Do you happen to know if thereās a āverboseā? Not sure if it supports it but you could try -v.
ok, good point there. Although checking the script there doesnāt seem to be much options besides whatās mentioned. I tried what you said, doing the ./all.bash but adding -v. Iāll edit this reply after itās done (maybe just a few mins in lol)
EDIT: Same thing, nothing changed, still same error without further details.
Again - that error is TOUGH. I would either try to just blow everything away and install from a package manager or submit a ticket on the official go repo.
I do have GO 1.19 from the package manager, but I wanted to build the latest for curiosity (and learning).
Anyways, I may work around with 1.19, try another lang or see how the binaries work. Thanks either way, if you got any more suggestions as alternatives Iām all ears (or eyes in this case).
