Since Postman has made cloud sync mandatory, we’re now looking for an alternative that’s lightweight, not bloated, fully free, and works locally without forced cloud dependency.

Finally we found right API testing tool which is lightweight, free and yet powerful Postmate Client
Same here moved off Postman for that. Apidog felt lighter and works fine locally
Another Bruno user here, by employer’s choice but it’s okay. It’s not fully free, though – there is a paid version that can do more. It has a CLI companion (npm install -g @usebruno/cli) that I think can do some of the paid stuff from the GUI for free.
Honestly, Bruno is the way to go right now it stores collections directly as files on your local system, no cloud nonsense at all. If you want something even simpler and terminal-friendly, Hoppscotch (self-hosted) or HTTPie are solid picks too.
