Relatively new to Go (Started learning at the end of December 2019). Before that, I war coding in Python for 3 years, and VBA (Excel and Access) for the 12 years before that.
I have ADHD and so school has always been difficult for me, so all of my coding ability has been on-the-job self taught. (Google is the second best teacher I’ve ever had… shout out to ABC, you were the best teacher!)
While I am making the transition to mostly using Go from this point on, I am by no means giving up on Python. Sadly, due to legacy tools at work, I still have to work in VBA periodically. Also, my boss thinks he can code because he can record macros, so a small chunk of my work week is spent fixing his macros.
I work in the finance department of a nationwide retailer, however, have been on loan to an operations / reporting group, running new code development and automated reporting. Some of our goal is to replace many legacy VBA tools (since IT is trying to phase out desktop MS Office and covert to Office 365 Online)
Outside of coding, I like to read science fiction, watch anything Mecury/Apollo related, play table top games (Dominion is my favorite), cross-stitch (don’t laugh, give it a shot, it’s super relaxing), and build lego sets (my wife just got me the UCS Millennium Falcon for our anniversary and I’m starting to regret dumping all the bags into a single bucket haha).
Recently I’ve taken up acrylic painting and wood working. I’m not good at either but the are relaxing, so we will see if they stick…
