Error in compilation "go: no such tool "link"

Go tool: no such tool "link"

An on and off problem when running programs with a recent install of Go 1.14.1 windows version. It appeared when I first installed Go last week, then disappeared when I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. This error has re-appeared this morning. Any thoughts on what I need to do to resolve this issue? Many thanks, David. p.s. I’m new to Go
