elPrep 5 released

Last December, we have released a new version of elPrep, namely elPrep 5, with binaries of that application being available since last week. elPrep is a high-performance tool implemented in Go for analyzing .sam/.bam files in DNA sequencing pipelines, up to and - since version 5 - now also including variant calling. You can find elPrep 5 at the elPrep GitHub repository.

We have also just published a paper about multithreaded variant calling in elPrep 5 that describes how we extended the elPrep framework for this purpose, and what the performance improvements look like compared to other tools in this domain.

Already in summer 2020, we have also published features to pargo, our library for parallel programming in Go, to support the new features in elPrep 5.
